spam elements, your website will be penalized. Will Google

Common
Questions
Q.
How long does it take to have my web site indexed?
-
A.
After we have submitted your web site's registration
details to the search engines and directories, it will take between one day
and eight weeks (average) for your URL submission to be added to the search
engines database. Some smaller search engines will take only a few days to
index your page. However, most of the other larger search engines will take
several weeks. Such a delay between the date of submission and the date of
indexing is due to the extremely high number of submissions (sometimes tens of
thousands a day) for the large search engines. Please be advised that we can
not 'force' search engines to index your web site, it is totally at their
discretion. The only thing we can do is simply submit your web site details to
them so they can then decide whether to index your site or not.
Please have patience with the search engines, they
will get around to indexing your site.
Q. Is the
Silver Submission service a one time charge or is it a monthly charge?
Q.
Is e-MarketingSystems.com a "worldwide" submission service?
-
A.
Yes we submit to 1,051 worldwide search engines in
Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, India, Korea, Singapore, Italy and USA
just to name a few.
Q.
What is Search Engine Ready?
-
A. Customers
typically have very basic Head tags , and they sometimes do not have
meta-tags. We highly recommend that your meta-tags are in order before
submitting your web site. The tags are an important part that the search
engines will need to index your web. We offer a meta-tag generating package
that will get you "search engine ready".
Q.
How can I make my site more easily
indexable for the search engines?
-
A. Try not
to use large amounts of multimedia on your web pages. This includes using,
javascript, Flash development or visual basic scripting. Other parts of media
you would want to stay away from is movies.
Another couple of things that can stop
search engine spiders from your site is frame pages, and redirections. Frame
pages will hinder search engine spiders from indexing your site properly
because they are not setup to handle frame coding.
One way to get around this if you think
you need to have frames is to basically code a normal page and place it within
<noframes> tags. This will be picked up by the search engine spider as it will
jump over your <frameset>, and then proceed to index whatever information is
within the <noframes> tags, or you can make a splash page (doorway) that the
user will see first. This is just a basic page with no frames. You could have
some of your home page content on it that does not link to the frames area of
the site. You will need to create an enter graphic, like "Enter Here" where
you will enter the site through this graphic link. This way the search engine
spiders will not see the frames as your Index page and get confused. The
frames page will be the next page in from the Main (plain index) page.
Redirections are a big no-no for search
engines. Most search engines will penalize you for this, or not index your
page at all if you have redirections on your page. The key to having
redirections is not to submit the web address that is being redirected,
because it is not an actual web site, it's just a forwarded address. The
reason for this is that lots of people tried to trick the search engines by
optimizing a page for specific keywords, but redirecting to something
completely different.
Q.
What is a Meta Tag and a Title Tag?
<head>
<TITLE>Your Web Site -- The best Web Site Around</TITLE>
<META name="description" content="This web site is here to provide information
on various aspects of creating good rankings">
<META name="keywords" content="my site, personal web, my personal web site,
information, free information, web promotion, web ranking, personal site">
<META NAME="RATING" CONTENT="General">
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="index, follow">
<META NAME="REVISIT-AFTER" CONTENT="1 Week">
</head>
If you need to have the Meta Tags created,
we will do this for you for a fee. You will have to upload (FTP) them to your
web page after we send the Meta Tags to you. If you don't know how to put the
new Meta Tags in you will have to get your webmaster to perform the work for
you, as we do not have access to your files.
Q.
What should I do after I create or update the Meta Tags?
Q.
How many keywords can be entered for each web site?
Q.
What is FTP Uploading?
-
A.
FTP Uploading is when you send information via the
internet to your web site from your computer.
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and allows
the web site owner to makes changes to their existing web site on the internet
remotely via a program such as, CuteFTP or Microsoft Front Page, Your web site
is usually stored on a webserver and is stored and looked after by your HOST.
Q.
My web site uses "Frames" is this a
problem?
-
A. Framed
web sites have become very popular in the last year or two, but unfortunately
all of the major search engines have had some problems in the indexing of
these sites. Framed sites consist of at least one page existing on the same
page as another. This type of layering makes the search engines spider
confused and therefore making it impossible for your Web Site to be indexed.
Search engines suggest that you have a
"splash" welcome page created for your web site. This is just a basic page,
which is "non-framed". The splash page should also contain the <Title> and
<Meta> tags and a graphic that will prompt them to enter your site by clicking
"'Enter Here''.
Q.
Why does my position on Search Engines constantly change?
-
A.
The criteria used by Search Engines for ranking Web sites
is based on so many variables that it is almost impossible to precisely
predict where your site will be positioned from one day to the next. Such
factors include: the number of other pages (sites) using similar 'keywords',
keyword relevancy to the contents of your web site, cross link within your web
site, how many external links to your web site, constantly changing listing
criteria (algorithms) used by Search Engines and many other factors.
