Submissions
Questions & Answers
Q.
Why are there submission failures on the Submission Report?
-
A.
Because of the ever-changing nature of Search
Engines, internet traffic condition, and network congestion on the Internet,
it is not uncommon that we will experience some failures on each submission
campaign. Normally, we can simply re-submit the failed engines again at
another time if the amount of failed engines is unusually high.
Q. My site submission report showed that Google, MSN and other major
engines were "skip submit". Will you be re-submitting these?
e-MarketingSystems.com has explained frequently asked questions
here about search engine submission to your website.
-
A.
When a search engine shows
that it was skipped for example,
AOL ….. Skip submit by
Google
Inktomi ….. Skip submit by Lycos
LookSmart ….. Skip submit by Sensis (au)
This means AOL gets its
search results from Google. Therefore AOL was skipped because we submitted to
that search engine through Google. The same goes for the rest of the search
engines that show as (skipped).
Inktomi gets its results
from Lycos and LookSmart from Sensis and so on. None of these search engines
were actually skipped. Some of them require us to submit to the data bases
through different doors, so we will submit to them through MSN, Google, Lycos,
Fast or Sensis etc. etc.
Q. What exactly does "Skip-Last Submit Success" mean in the report?
-
A.
Skip-Last Submit means that these search
engines were skipped on the second attempt to submit the last failed search
engines.
In other words, we skipped these
because they were successfully added the last time we submitted your site. We
only wanted to resubmit to the search engines that failed. This gives you
maximum exposure to as many search engines as possible.
Q.
How often should I submit my web sites to search engines?
-
A.
Different engines act differently. Generally,
you can re-submit your web site once per month.
For Spider Engines, if your web
site has been indexed already, the search engine's "Robot" will re-visit your
web site at a regular time (normally once or twice per month) and update their
database with the changes you have made.
For Directory Engines, generally
you don't need to re-submit it again if your web site has been indexed
already. Most of the directory engines only accept the one main URL only. If
you over submit, you will be considered as "spam" and may cause your web site
to be banned by the search engines.
You can re-submit your web site
again if you make any changes to your web site. We suggest that you should
always make some minor changes to your web site, so that the search engines
will see that your web site is well maintain and it will also help to
improving your web ranking.
If your web site isn't indexed
by the search engines, you can re-submit your web site again once per month.
We suggest that make some changes to your web site contents before
re-submitting
Q.
Should I submit all my web pages or just the main index page?
-
A.
For Directory engines, most of them only accept the main page. For this
reason, you should submit the main page only. However, if your web site
covers different types of products or services, you can submit each product
page as well.
For Spider engines, most of them
claim that the engine robot will collect all the URLs from your main page,
however, our research shows that there is no guarantee all your web pages will
be indexed by the search engines. For this reason, we recommend you to submit
all your web pages including the main index page.
Q.
(What if I change my Web Page address or start using another provider so that I
have two Web Page addresses to promote? Would I then be allowed to register my
new Web Page address again?)
-
A.
As a general rule, you can re-submit your web
site again if you change your web site address or change your web site
content. Further more, we suggest that you should always make some changes to
your web page content (change the title, keyword or description) and re-submit
it regularly. This will make search engines to consider that your web site is
well maintain and also help you get the high ranking.
Q.
What search
engines do you manually submit my web site to?
Q.
What services are
included in the Silver Submission?
Q.
Do you submit to Adult Sites?
Q.
What
services are included in the Bronze Submission?
Q.
Is there a
report that comes with the Bronze Submission?
